Read 2 Peter 1:3-9
When did you get your first Bible? I may have received a New Testament while I was a young child, but the first Bible I remember receiving was right after I had made the decision to trust Jesus with my life. I was 8 years old… it was a regular sized Bible with MY NAME in it… and it had cool maps.
As I got older, I would bring that Bible with me to church… and occasionally read it. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I began to consider that the decision of faith I made when I was eight… was supposed to affect the way I live. I had friends at church who ‘believed’ the Bible but didn’t live like it. I had other friends who both believed and lived what the Bible said.
Today’s passage reminds us of how important the Bible is for our lives. It contains everything we need to live a godly life. However, in order to live it… we have to know it.. and in order to know it… we have to read it! When I was challenged with the thought of having my faith match my beliefs, I made the decision to integrate them and strived to live my life according to God’s Word. Have you made the same choice? Will live out your faith?
